WHY TRAIN?

Training builds communication, understanding and mutual respect between you and your dog. It also subtly but effectively demonstrates to your dog that you are in charge, not him. Dogs are pack animals and live to please their owner. If your dog doesn't respect you as the pack leader (commonly referred to as the "Alpha"), you may be in for big trouble, particularly if the dog is rowdy or dominant by nature.

Dogs will instinctively submit to their pack leader and will stop a behavior when they know it is unwanted by you. When a dog does as you ask, he sees your happy reaction and has a positive experience himself. He learns that good things happen when he uses good behavior.

Obedience training is one of the most important aspects of raising a dog. In fact, a well trained dog is by far a happier dog! Why? Because trained dogs have fewer restrictions. The more reliable they are, the more freedom they get. Well-mannered, obedient dogs are both appreciated and welcomed, thus they receive more attention and interaction with family members, visitors, and passers-by than their ill-mannered counterparts.

Most dog behavior problems are the result of miscommunication between a dog and its owner. Many problems can easily be solved when you understand how and why your dog acts the way he does. Our in-home personal obedience training is conducted by a trainer who has been certified through the Animal Behavioral College (ABC). Courses are available for:
